Our organization is new to content marketing — where do we start? — but we’ve just finished our first content campaign for the year. The biggest mistake is the self-imposed “show up first and ask questions later” mentality. The thing is, that’s not how the world works. The world doesn’t work like that, and if you try to do that, you’re going to be annoyed and frustrated by the people who are responding to your content. You need to show up early, ask questions, and have a conversation.
How would you describe your process for creating content for social media?
Start by researching the products and services available, and then start building a story from that. Once you have a story, you can start to dig into your stream of news, social media trends, or other content that you’ve been sharing.
How do you approach the content creation process for the video game community?
We’re constantly looking at the data we have for our audience to see what the best ways are to reach our audience. Video games is such an exciting, growing, and diverse category, and thus, there are so many different types of content that we can use to reach our audience. For example, we’re using a lot of videos from our friends in the industry that have been playing that game and sharing it with their fans, creating a ton of content to use in our videos. We’ve also been doing a ton of social media outreach for the #gamestop hashtag, and that has been really good.
What advice would you give to other content creators?
Start with an idea, then explore it to see if you can come up with a sample video that’s compelling and interesting. Then, when you’re done, make sure to analyze that content to find out what the best way to create that video is.
Have you had any success with your content for the gaming community?
We’ve had a lot of great success with the #gamestop hashtag and the #gamestop hashtag for video games. We’ve also been really happy with the results we’ve gotten from using the #gamestop hashtag for our content.
Have you noticed any trends in the gaming community?

What are the biggest challenges that you face as a content creator?
The biggest challenge is that it’s really hard for us to get the word out in a short amount of time. We’re trying to do everything we can to get the word out, but we’re not. It’s a real challenge.
What’s the best tip you can give to someone who wants to get into content marketing?
Increasing degrees of difficulty.
Have you ever run into any obstacles or obstacles that you’ve had to overcome?
We’ve run into a lot of obstacles in the past, but we’ve all overcome them. The biggest obstacle we had to overcome was the fact that we didn’t have a design team. We had a great design team, but we were struggling to get our content in front of people, and we were just not getting a lot of support from our readers. We ended up being a bit of a team that had to do the work of the content creator.
What was the best thing that you learned from your first year in content marketing?
Experience. I learned a lot from working on the video game content, and I learned a lot from the content marketing team, from the CMO that we had, and from the sales team. All of those were really helpful.
What’s the best advice you can give to someone who is looking to get into content marketing?
Find a team that is already doing it. Most of the time, you can find content marketing teams that already have a product, or they’re doing some sort of promotion or pitch, and they’re doing a great job.
What do you see as the next challenge for content marketing companies?
In the next year, I really want to see more startups and more content creators step up and take that bold step of actually taking those tasks.
